Manatee Herd at the Enclave Beach
We had some exciting visitors at the Enclave on June 24th 2020, a herd of mating manatee!! They beached right in front of our building, it was amazing to see them. The herd was still there on the 25th early in the morning before moving on. The spot they chose was almost the same spot we rescued a cow who beached herself in December. The pictures are very telling of the injuries these gentle giants receive from boat propellers. The cow at the front had obviously sustained some very bad injuries sometime in the past and a few scrapes that have not healed, she is a tough one!
With the tense world we are living in today, a wonderful display of nature was much appreciated and a once in a lifetime experience.
